Poojya Swamiji

Scholarship in service of the sacred.

Scholar, poet, orator, and spiritual guide—Poojya Swamiji united a life of learning with mantra sadhana and compassionate leadership.

The guru

Learning that became a path.

Born on 23 January 1937 as Venkata Lakshmi Vara Prasad Rao in Elchur, Prakasam district, Poojya Swamiji’s early life was shaped by Telugu literature, sacred study, and a deep inward search.

Before embracing sannyasa, he served in higher education, including as Head of the Telugu Department and later Principal of Hindu College, Guntur. His gift was not knowledge alone, but the clarity with which he made profound ideas approachable.

Through discourse and personal guidance, he encouraged seekers to unite disciplined practice with compassion, humility, and discernment.
